In a significant development for Ghana’s mineral sector and international economic relations, Godwin Selase Zigah, Chief Executive Officer of ZIGX Mining, has been appointed as the Head of Foreign Direct Investment, Solid Minerals, and Partnerships (Ghana) for the United World Congress of Diplomates (UN-WCD).
The appointment marks a pivotal moment in Mr. Zigah’s career as a business leader and community advocate and further positions Ghana as a strategic player in global mineral investment and sustainable development.
As the newly appointed Country Representative for the UN-WCD in the domain of solid minerals and investment partnerships, Mr. Zigah will be responsible for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) into Ghana’s mineral sector, building strategic international partnerships, and ensuring alignment with sustainable development goals.
“This role is both an honour and a responsibility,” said Mr. Zigah. “Ghana holds immense mineral wealth, but true value comes from managing those resources transparently, responsibly, and in ways that benefit both the people of Ghana and our global partners. I am committed to representing Ghana’s interests on the international stage and facilitating partnerships that prioritize long-term impact.”
Mr. Zigah’s leadership at ZIGX Mining—a Ghanaian-owned company recognized for its ethical mining practices and strong community engagement—has earned him accolades across the country. Under his direction, ZIGX Mining has championed responsible mining techniques, local content development, and environmental sustainability, setting a new standard in the industry.
He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Adankwame Community Mining, a project that promotes local ownership and equitable participation in Ghana’s mineral resource economy. Through this initiative, Mr. Zigah has spearheaded efforts to empower local communities through job creation, vocational training, and social investment.
His new role with the United World Congress of Diplomates signals a broader mandate—bridging Ghana’s domestic strengths with global opportunities, particularly in an era where sustainable mining and ethical investment are of international priority.
The UN-WCD is an international diplomatic organization committed to promoting peace, multilateral cooperation, sustainable development, and cross-border partnerships across various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and minerals. Through its appointments and global network, UN-WCD aims to connect leaders and institutions with shared values and developmental goals.
Mr. Zigah’s appointment is expected to accelerate Ghana’s visibility as a destination for ethical investment in the solid minerals sector and support the country’s vision for a diversified, inclusive, and globally competitive mining industry.
